Terms of Service

Last updated: [date to be set on publish]

1. Welcome, and what these terms cover

Welcome to Outsource.gy. These Terms of Service explain how the platform works and what we each agree to by using it. By creating an account or otherwise using Outsource.gy, you’re agreeing to these terms. If any part of them doesn’t work for you, please don’t create an account.

Outsource.gy is a directory and connection platform for Guyanese professionals, tradespeople, freelancers, job seekers and employers. We built it with real protections in place (profile review, contact protection, on-platform messaging) rather than as an open listings board. We are not a party to, and do not perform, any work arranged between a client and a provider, or any hiring decision between an employer and a candidate.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account.

You’re responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials secure. You’re responsible for activity that happens under your account.

Accurate professional credentials and business details matter here. The trust the whole directory depends on rests on people representing themselves honestly.

3. How we keep the directory trustworthy

Provider profiles (professional, tradesperson, and freelancer) are reviewed before they appear publicly. Employer accounts are verified before they can browse candidate profiles, and job seeker profiles go through a light verification step before appearing in the employer-facing directory. We may decline to list, or remove, a profile that appears fraudulent, misleading, or in violation of these terms.

Contact details stay private until both sides agree to proceed, and we encourage keeping all communication on-platform. It’s documented, and it’s the version of events we can actually help with if a disagreement comes up later. Arrangements made off-platform are outside what we can see or verify.

4. Provider credentials

For professions that require a license or registration in Guyana (such as legal, medical, engineering, or surveying services), you’re responsible for holding the appropriate credentials. A listing on Outsource.gy reflects that a profile passed our review process; it isn’t a substitute for, or equivalent to, professional certification or regulatory approval.

You keep ownership of what you post (your bio, portfolio photos, and profile details) and grant Outsource.gy a license to display that content on the Platform as part of running the directory.

If you are a provider, you also grant Outsource.gy a license to use your generated Profile Card graphic (a summary image showing your name, category, rating and badges) in Outsource.gy's own promotional materials, such as social media posts, off the Platform. We do not use a personal photo of you for this, only the generated card. You can ask us to exclude your profile from this at any time by contacting us.

5. Requests, jobs and communication

Clients can send service requests and job postings; providers respond, accept, or decline. We expect both sides to communicate in good faith, and the contact-protection and on-platform messaging features exist to support that.

Even so, Outsource.gy is a directory, not a contractor or an employer. The actual agreement for services (price, scope, timeline) is between the client and the provider, and we’re not able to guarantee the outcome of that agreement.

6. Payments for services

Outsource.gy does not process, hold, or guarantee payment for the underlying service between a client and a provider. That payment is arranged directly between the client and the provider, by whatever method they agree on, outside the Platform. This section does not apply to Outsource.gy's own paid features, described below.

7. Paid platform features (Amplify)

Outsource.gy offers optional paid features for provider profiles, currently called Amplify, that increase a profile's visibility (for example, placement in a featured section or higher ranking in directory results). Amplify affects visibility only. It never grants, affects, or substitutes for any trust badge or verification level, and purchasing it never overrides a category's risk-based verification requirements.

Amplify is currently paid for by direct mobile money transfer to Outsource.gy, and access is granted after we manually confirm receipt of payment. This is a payment made to Outsource.gy, not to another user, and section 6 above does not apply to it.

Amplify purchases are non-refundable once approved and activated, including if you deactivate your account or listing before the paid period ends.

8. Assisted Hire

Assisted Hire is an optional, paid concierge service in which Outsource.gy staff identify and present a shortlist of eligible providers for a client's specific request, rather than the client searching the directory themselves. Outsource.gy does not perform the underlying work and is not a party to any resulting engagement between the client and a shortlisted provider, in the same way we are not a party to any other engagement arranged through the Platform.

Assisted Hire is paid for by direct bank transfer to Outsource.gy, not to a provider. Banking details are disclosed only after a request is submitted, and only to the client who submitted that specific request.

9. Reviews

Reviews should reflect a genuine engagement conducted through the Platform. We may remove a review that is fraudulent, abusive, or unrelated to an actual engagement.

Providers may respond to reviews left on their profile. A strong review history is a good signal, but it isn’t a guarantee of future performance, and we don’t independently verify the content of a written review beyond confirming the reviewer had a recorded engagement.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to: impersonate another person or business; post false, misleading or fraudulent information; harass, threaten or discriminate against another user; use the Platform to circumvent the contact-protection features for any deceptive purpose; scrape, copy, or resell directory data; or attempt to interfere with the security or normal operation of the Platform.

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms. This is part of how we keep the directory safe for everyone else using it.

11. Reports, restrictions and account removal

Any user can report another user for a concern such as fraud, harassment, or misrepresentation. We review reports and may, depending on what we find, take no action, apply a temporary restriction on an account's ability to be promoted or to send new enquiries, or remove an account and its listings entirely.

A report or a restriction under review does not by itself mean a claim has been substantiated. Outsource.gy makes its own determination based on the information available to it, which may be incomplete.

If an account is removed for cause, we retain limited identifying information (such as the email address or phone number used) to help prevent that person from immediately creating a new account. This is described further in our Privacy Policy.

12. Job seeker and employer terms

A job seeker’s identity and direct contact details remain private until the job seeker approves an employer’s access request. That approval step is theirs to give, not automatic.

13. What we can and can’t promise

We take real, active steps to keep this directory trustworthy: reviewing new profiles before they go live, verifying employers, protecting contact details, and keeping a record of on-platform communication. Those measures reduce risk. They don’t eliminate it, and we want to be upfront about where our responsibility ends.

Where a profile shows a trust badge or verification level, that reflects a specific check we performed, such as identity, credentials, or experience. It is not a guarantee of the outcome of any engagement, and it doesn’t mean Outsource.gy has certified the person’s professional qualifications.

Some provider profiles may also show a standing indicator (such as Distinguished or Elite), which is calculated automatically from that provider's own activity on the Platform (such as completed engagements and review history) and can change over time. It is not a paid feature, not a permanent grant, and, like a trust badge, is not a guarantee of the outcome of any engagement.

We’re not able to guarantee that every listing is complete or accurate, that a provider or job seeker will meet your expectations, or that the Platform will run uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, Outsource.gy isn’t liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, or from an engagement or dispute between users. Nothing in this section limits any protection you’re entitled to under law that can’t be waived by agreement.

14. Changes to the Platform or these terms

We may update these terms as the Platform evolves. Continued use of the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms, and your use of the Platform, are governed by the laws of Guyana, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the Platform will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Guyana.
